Mr. Felice Vaccaro is a pioneer and a leading expert of tele-radio-communication, broadcasting, and media law, in Italy and the European Union, with particular regard to licensing and concessions, interferences, radio-electric pollution, environmental impact assessment, advertising, competition, and antitrust law.
Since the second half of the seventies, Mr. Vaccaro assists media companies and broadcasters, including consortia and repeaters of foreign programs in Italy, in matters of administrative, civil, and criminal law. He regularly speaks at the Court of Cassation and the Constitutional Court, and he has intervened in proceedings at the European Court of Human Rights as well.
Mr. Vaccaro also assists media companies in cross-border broadcasting litigation, arbitral proceedings, and complex transactions, including M&A and cross-border interferences (Italy/Slovenia, Italy/France), as well as negotiations for the creation of telecommunications networks (including in non-EU countries).
Inter alia, he has been a member of the panel that in France, Germany and the United States has dealt with issues concerning the broadcasting of “Voice of America”, “Antenne 2”, “France 24”, “Radio France International”.
Highly experienced spear-fisher, former semi-professional rugby player, amateur tennis player, and President for thirty years of the second-largest sports conglomerate in central Italy, Mr. Vaccaro regularly represents, before domestic courts and sport arbitral proceedings, professional, semi-professional, and amateur sports players (in particular, rugby and ‘Calcio Storico Fiorentino’).
Inter alia, Mr. Vaccaro served as:
- Chief legal advisor (1978-2006) of Fininvest (holding inter alia of the principal private Italian media operator, Mediaset);
- Chief external legal advisor (1990-2003) of TelePiù (principal pay-per-view foreign media company operating in Italy, today operating as Sky Italy) and, subsequently (2003-2010), for the wind-up procedure;
- Board member of major Italian media companies (including Mediaset, 1995-1997);
- President (1978-2008) of C.U.S. Firenze (largest amateur sports conglomerate of central Italy, after Rome);
- Board member of the Italian Rugby Federation (2001-2003), and member of its Statute Updating Commission (2000).
Member of Florence Bar since 1967, in addition to native Italian Mr. Vaccaro is fluent in English and French and has conversational command of Greek.
