[ACADEMIA] May 12, 2017 – Speaking at CUHK’s Asia FDI Forum III (Hong Kong)

May 12, 2017 – Professor Vaccaro-Incisa has been invited to speak at the this edition of the renowned Asia FDI Forum, hosted by Professor Julian Chaisse and prestigious Chinese University of Hong Kong, this year focusing on the topic: “China-European Union Investment Relationships: Towards a New Leadership in Global Investment Governance?”. Prof. Vaccaro-Incisa will speak on “China, the US and the EU: closer than ever to uniform standards on international investment law?”. Conference website and program may be found here.

The Forum takes place just before China’s “Belt & Road Forum”, organized on May 14-15 in Beijing. The two fora see the exchange of several participants.

Feb. 2017 – The Law Firm is glad to be sponsoring the International Friendly Round, organized at the Faculty of Law of the Catholic University of Lille on Apr. 27-29, 2017, in preparation of the 40th edition of the Telders International Law Moot Court Competition (taking place at the Peace Palace, seat of the International Court of Justice, on May 17-20).

Apr. 19, 2017 – Within the framework of the International Business & Law double degree program, on Apr. 19th, at 6pm, at IESEG Business School in Paris, Prof. Vaccaro-Incisa, director of the program, will moderate an interview with international arbitration young stars Ms. Maria-Irene Perruccio (White & Case LLP) and Mr. Gustavo Laborde (Shearman & Sterling LLP).

In pursuing the spirit of the program, the interview aims at converging the fields of business and law, by letting future managers getting acquainted with international law experts and their work since the time of their studies.

[LITIGATION] Apr. 2017 – Second opinion on the interpretation of the Radio Regulations Articles

May 2017 – In connection with another cross-border radio-interference between Italian and Slovenian radio broadcasting operators, Prof. Vaccaro-Incisa has delivered to the Court of Appeal of Trieste an opinion on the interpretation of Arts. 8 and 11 of the International Telecommunication Radio Regulations Articles.

[PUBLICATION] Apr. 2017 – Santa Clara Journal of International Law Article publishes Vaccaro-Incisa’s take on Crimea’s change of effective sovereign

Apr. 10, 2017 – The last issue of the Santa Clara Journal of International Law (Issue 2, Volume 15) features an article authored by Prof. Vaccaro-Incisa on “Crimea’s Secession from Ukraine and Accession to the Russian Federation as an Instance of North(- West) v. South(-East) Divide in the Understanding of International Law“.

The article attempts to offer an interpretation of the existing international law aimed at reconciling seemingly known facts with the non-concurrence of about half of the members of the United Nations to the adoption of the General Assembly Resolution on the “Territorial integrity of Ukraine” (GA Res. 68/262, adopted on Mar. 27th, 2014).

A preliminary draft of the article was presented at the opening session of the 2015 ESIL annual research forum (14-15 May 2015, European University Institute, Florence) and an advanced draft presented at the roundtable on Humanitarianism and the Transformation of International Law (4-5 Aug. 2016, Melbourne Law School).

[ARBITRATION] Dec. 2016 – Vaccaro-Incisa delivers expert opinion for an investment arbitration tribunal

Dec. 12, 2016 – In connection with an ongoing investment arbitration, Dr. Vaccaro-Incisa has delivered a review of the Italian bilateral investment treaty (BIT) practice on the investor-State dispute settlement clause.

The review follows a thorough analytical method elaborated by Dr. Vaccaro-Incisa, already employed in his previous and ongoing work on Chinese and ASEAN treaty practice.

[PRO BONO] Mar. 8-10, 2017 – Serving as arbitrator for the Frankfurt Investment Arbitration Moot Court (DE)

Between Mar. 8-10, Prof. Vaccaro-Incisa will serve as arbitrator for the Frankfurt Investment Arbitration Moot Court, organized by McDermott Will and Emery Law Firm, along several of the most renowned personalities in the field.

Prof. Vaccaro-Incisa will also attend the symposium locally organized by the International Chamber of Commerce of Paris Investment Arbitration in Challenging Times – Issue Conflicts and the Problem of Legitimacy“, and the Frankfurt Investment Law Workshop, arranged under the auspices of the European Society of International Law (ESIL).

New Trends in Investment Treaty Making.
